The children spent a day thinking about the importance of food both locally and nationally and also across the world. The children would like to say a big thank you to all parents who donated food to school. This food was presented by our Mini Vinnies to our local food bank.
X Factor visits school
The children enjoyed an X factor treat today when Molly Scott (A finalist in The X Factor 2018) sang to the children. It was great to hear such fabulous singing and we wish Molly all the best as she progresses through the competition.
Poetry Day 2018
The children enjoyed a fantastic day of writing poetry and presenting their work in the celebratory assembly. Well done to all of our fabulous writers.
Macmillan Coffee Morning 2018
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a cup of coffee to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care. A grand total of £526.13 was raised and this will go to support those affected by cancer. The school is very grateful.
European Day of Languages
Each year we celebrate the European Day of Languages to show all of the different Languages spoken across Europe. This year, as a whole school, we celebrated a range of languages on Wednesday 26th September. It was wonderful to see all of the children and staff getting involved, wearing the colours to match their countries flag.
Throughout the day, the children were involved in a range of activities ranging from food tasting to Croatian Folk Dance. I am sure the children will have returned home full of new information about their chosen country.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and are already asking which country they will be researching next year! Thank you to all donations to school which totalled: £161.78
Year 6 Buddy Afternoon
Our Reception children spent time with their Year 6 buddies for the afternoon. It was a time to say goodbye to our Year 6 buddies and to thank them for all their hard work this year in helping the reception children to settle in school. The children played fun games together and enjoyed an ice cream treat. I’m sure the reception children will always remember their special buddy.
Parents Open Day
Our open parents day was a great opportunity for parents and grandparents to spend time with their children celebrating all their work they have done in school this year. Thank you for all the positive comments made regarding this day and pleased you found this to be a very worthwhile event. We hope to continue this next year.
Year 6 Arched Mass
Our year 6 children joined other year 6 children, across East Durham, in celebrating a Catholic arched mass at Our Lady of the Rosary church in Peterlee. The mass was to celebrate the transition from Primary to Secondary phase and the theme was all about being grateful. Our children did a fabulous liturgical dance and shared with other children across the County in prayer and reflection. Thank you to Father Jackson and Ms Boylen for all their efforts in arranging the day.
‘Bling Your Wheels’ – D&T Week
The children began D&T Week with a ‘Bling Your Wheels’ event in school. The children did a fantastic job and showcased their special wheels to the rest of the school during an afternoon presentation. Well done to everyone who received a Headteacher sticker for their efforts and a special well done to each class winner who received a special D&T prize.
Ceilidh
The community Ceilidh event organised by our Friends of the School was a real success. The night was filled with lot of fun, conversation, music and dance. Money raised will go to support the children in school. A thank you to our Friends of the School for all their efforts.
